Local Assistance through our Hands-On program

We provide volunteers to work on projects such as painting, gardening, or staffing an event that aligns with Zonta’s mission.

For International service projects please see www.zonta.org

The Zonta Club of Everett was chartered in 1929 and is affiliated with Zonta International, a worldwide service organization of business and professional executives dedicated to advancing the status of women worldwide. Zonta International has selected the eradication of violence against women of all generations as a focus locally and internationally. The Zonta Club of Everett contacted local and state officials and requested that they join Zonta’s worldwide campaign to end the violence.

Zonta Says No:

Violence is inflicted against women all over the world: in the United States a woman is battered every 15 seconds and 700,000 women are sexually assaulted annually; in Washington State, one in three women reports being injured by domestic violence sometime in her lifetime;

  • in Snohomish County, in 2015-2016, the only confidential domestic abuse hotline in Snohomish County received 5076 calls for help.
  • One in five women in Washington State has experienced rape (wscadv.org).
  •

Violence against women disrupts and destroys lives in our homes, schools, workplaces, and throughout our society. By drawing attention to this alarming and pervasive phenomenon, Zonta International hopes to reduce the numbers of women and children whose lives are damaged and improve the quality of life for all of us.

Zonta Everett Service Projects

In 2022, as one of several service projects, Zonta Everett refurbished the outdoor children’s play area of Homeward House, an Everett agency associated with YWCA that helps connect families and give them quality time together in a safe environment.

We were very pleased to be able to contribute new toys, flowers, handpainted murals, and general cleanup.

Keep our Care Act Maintains access to healthcare for Women

Zonta Club of Everett supports the Keep our Care Act for exactly this reason: Women should have control over their healthcare. “Most of us do not want a stranger’s ideology controlling our futures. If you live in a “blue” or “abortion haven” state, you may feel protected from abortion bans, but the truth is, your healthcare may be limited by the religious interests directing your local hospital. “ These hospitals can create a monopoly, like in Everett, and limit access to not only reproductive care, but end of life care and gender affirming care. #Keepourcareact #reproductiverights #ReproductiveHealthCare Read more at Ms Magazine: https://msmagazine.com/2023/10/05/religious-hospitals-abortion/?
