Advocating for Women's Rights, Locally, Nationally, Globally

The Advocacy Committee works locally, regionally, and at the State and National Level to forward women’s rights.

Some of our Focus Projects in 2020 are:

  • End Child Marriage in  WA state and the USA
  • Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment
  • Renew VAWA  (Violence against Women Act ) in the Senate
  • Protect Title IX

The Club works closely with the Zonta District 8 and Zonta USA advocacy teams.

 

Zonta Scholarships: Jane M Klausman Women in Business Scholarship: awarded to a young woman in college studying business and/or business management or economics

Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship: awarded to a high school senior accepted at a college who has demonstrated dedication to advancing women in her advocacy work and area of study in college.

Women In Transition: scholarships awarded to women finding themselves the sole family support and needing more education in order to be qualified for work that can support their families.

Zonta Club of Everett STEAM Scholarship: awarded to young women 16-19 years of age interested in career pathways in science, technology, engineering, arts and aerospace manufacturing. The Service Committee also allocates donations to:

Zonta International Foundation: (projects bettering women’s health, safety and education)

ZISVAW:(discontinued) an international effort to end violence against women

Amelia Earhart Scholarship: (awarded to young women in graduate aeronautics and space engineering programs)

Lester Pearson College: (an international university preparatory boarding school in British Columbia, a tuition free school)
